Events 2010

11th June 2010           - Exhibition

Once again we used the main church and the hall at the rear of the building.

Once again we had a selection of previously seen layouts (many showing further developments) and a number of layouts making their first appearances.

Regular visitors are the North Essex group and Tending groups whose layouts (Saneham Tye and Brackley) have steadily evolved over the years from baseboards with track and bare baseboards, through to full scenics.

The groups own modular layout included a new scenic corner section based on the Dawlish coast area. Also on show from the Felixstowe group was a new layout (Hadderton) currently under construction. This is currently has track laid / running, with planning of scenics underway. The layout is based joint Great Western / Great Central practice.

Ipswich Railways Modellers Association attended with Winsford Hill, a section of main line passing a stone quarry, based on a section of the Somerset & Dorset line.

Graham Elliot and colleagues from Roydon & Diss MRC attended with Helendale, depicting a section of ex Midland mainline.

Simon, Eddie and Kelvin all attended with respective layouts Fox Hollow, Padnal & Carshill. A selection of small highly detailed layouts all showing further improvements since last seen.

New layouts making their first appearance this year were from Ted Cotton with a circular style layout based on Melton in nearby Woodbridge. Typical of Ted's layouts it features many scratch built buildings / structures that perfectly depict the area around the station. A second new layout came from Ipswich railway Modellers Association (Ipswich South Bank). Junior members from IRMA are constructing a dual level layout with a representation of the dockside railway in Ipswich.

Ray and Carol Hansen once again brought along the society second hand shop. A range of new model railway products were on sale from Scograil, who also had on show a continental layout currently under construction.

We must say special thank the ladies who ran the refreshments throughout the day and 'the Good Food Shop' that provided the exhibitors lunches.

Finally the group would like to thank all the exhibitors, traders and stewards for there support and of course to all our visitors.
