20th August 2005           - Module Day

Following on from our successful exhibition in June, the group gathered again for our third module day.

Due to a combination of holidays and other personal commitments, the number of available modules was down on our previous meetings. However we did have three modules plus the new fiddle yard and the return loops, giving a layout around 25 feet in length. With a slightly easier setup we were running just after out 10am target.

Despite being the holiday period the number of visitors was up on previous module days with a number of people expressing interest in what we are doing and taking details of both our group and the N Gauge society.

The new fiddle yards (first fully used at the exhibition) allowed us to display a wide range of models (UK steam and diesel plus continental and USA). The yards are spread over two 4 foot modules and hence can accommodate trains of 35 wagons / 10 coaches.

As before the event is used by members to run newly acquired stock. Of particular interest to both members and visitors alike was the recently released Dapol GWR 45xx and Collett coaches (all ran as well as they look) and a Bachmann V2 which looked impressive coupled to a rake of Minitrix Gresley coaches but did struggle for traction on the loops.
