CLUB OPEN DAY by Chris

Our October open day went pretty well after early fears that we would be without enough help, get too many visitors and not enough exhibits.
But, as it ended up, we would like to thank all those that came and helped out, it was nice to see you all. Also, everyone was good in wearing masks and even the public was doing their bit to keep us all safe.
A steady stream of visitors came throughout the day and we got a lot of interest as three of our layouts were new: Mike’s GWR Weston, Alex’s Alpine inspired layout and Dave’s new modular layout. These along with a regular feature module system had plenty of interest for people during the day.
Also a thanks go out to Tony and Raine for running a craftwork and bric a brac stall, from which they kindly donated all profits to the club, and made some nice cakes for the members.
As for the exhibits, after the usually morning tinkering to get everything up and working, there was little to no faults all day. With good running that always draw the viewers, and you might spot a cameo from James the red engine in one of the pictures :)

OPEN DAY, BOOKS AND THE B12 By another Chris :)

By a strange quirk of fate, i was able to attend the open day in October. We should have been in the Lake District, but the area was suffering from flooding, so that got cancelled and we headed over to the Felixstowe area for the day, calling in at the open day on the way.
It was amazing what was squeezed into that hall, layouts along with new & secondhand stands. Spoke to many of the operators who all seemed to be having a great time.

After that, we moved on to Felixstowe town itself and came across this incredible bookshop.
Now, I'm sure that all you local folk will already know this shop, 'Treasure Chest Books' in Cobbold Road. They have the most amazing selection of railway books that I've ever come across!
Well worth a look - as always, I have no connection with this shop, just a happy customer.

The day after, we ventured up to Sheringham and the North Norfolk Railway for the 'farewell to the B12' weekend.
As many of you will know, the loco is at the end of its boiler ticket so will now be stripped down for a major overhaul.
It was pouring with rain, we got soaked, but had a great day.

Obviously had time to call in at Smith's Models in the town (who currently open on a Sunday) to see what goodies James & Gemma had in stock & came away with a Farish WD 2-8-0 & eight BR mineral wagons. That's the second WD I have, I find they just run so well.
